Magic Mirror X at the World Sustainable Energy Days 2025 in Wels
Sustainable energy, international experts and an evening when Viking helmets, pirate hats and rainbow umbrella hats suddenly appeared in the foyer: at the World Sustainable Energy Days 2025 in Wels, our Magic Mirror X was part of the programme. We were booked by the OÖ Energiesparverband (Upper Austrian Energy Agency), which organises the WSED every year. Our spot on 5 March 2025: the foyer of the welios Science Center in Wels.
An evening at welios: World Sustainable Energy Days 2025
The World Sustainable Energy Days are one of Europe's best-known conferences on energy efficiency and renewable energy. During the day, the agenda is full of talks, panels and expert exchange. In the evening, things get more relaxed, and that is exactly why we were there.
welios is a fitting venue. The science center in Wels is itself all about energy and the future, and its large foyer gives guests plenty of room to move between the buffet, conversations and the mirror photo booth.
The Magic Mirror X as a meeting point in the foyer
The Magic Mirror X is a slim, full-length mirror photo booth with touch controls right on the mirror surface. Guests step in front of it, tap the mirror, an animated countdown starts and the camera fires. Animations such as "#Epic" turn even the waiting time into part of the experience.
At international conferences this is a big advantage: the process explains itself, whatever language someone speaks. A sign next to the mirror invited guests to take a picture and get their souvenir, together with the hashtag #WSED. That is all it takes for a queue to form quickly.
Magic Greenscreen: exhibition centre, alpine meadow and WSED design
One highlight of the evening was the Magic Greenscreen. Instead of the foyer, guests appeared in their photos in front of the Wels exhibition centre, on a sunny alpine meadow or against a yellow pattern in the WSED design.
The backgrounds are cut out automatically, without any green wall. For organisers this means their own corporate design and matching visuals end up on every single photo, with no extra set-up on site.
Multiprint, multi-format, QR code and email
Every photo carried the "World Sustainable Energy Days 2025 – Wels, Austria" branding including the logo. With multi-format we offered different layouts: a photo strip with three shots as well as a large single photo. Guests chose their favourite layout directly on the mirror.
Thanks to multiprint, every person in a group received their own print, ready within seconds at the print station next to the mirror. Anyone who preferred a digital copy simply scanned the QR code or had the photo sent by email. That also got the pictures onto social media quickly, just as the sign had promised.
Red carpet and dress-up box: when a conference turns into a party
A red carpet with gold stanchions and a red velvet rope turned the photo booth into a small grand entrance. Next to it stood a table with our dress-up box: hats, funny glasses, microphones, heart-shaped glasses, a plush iguana and even skis and a broom.
At the latest when the first guests posed as a Viking and a pirate, the ice was broken. Later in the evening, whole groups of up to twelve people crowded in front of the mirror with props. That is ideal for networking: people who laugh and pose together find it much easier to start a conversation afterwards.
Why a mirror photo booth works so well at conferences
At conferences, many guests have never met before. A mirror photo booth gives them an easy reason to share a moment, without any host or extra agenda item. And the photos are more than just a gimmick:
- Visible branding: the logo and event name appear on every print and every shared image.
- Reach: via QR code and email, the photos quickly find their way onto social media, often with the event hashtag.
- A souvenir to take home: the instant print goes into the conference folder and keeps the evening in mind long afterwards.
Conclusion: a mirror photo booth for conferences and corporate events
The World Sustainable Energy Days 2025 show that a mirror photo booth is not just for weddings and parties. At conferences and corporate events it creates a shared meeting point, puts the organiser's branding on every photo and gives guests a souvenir to take home.
