In short: At the Federal Forum of the GPA trade union in November 2025 at the Austria Center Vienna, our photo mosaic wall showed the slogan "mit uns." ("with us.") and the GPA logo. The photos for it were collected over a whole year: with a photo booth at GPA events in all Austrian provinces and through an upload option. On the last day of the Federal Forum, guests filled the final fields. In the end the picture was made of 950 photos.

The occasion: the GPA Federal Forum

At the Federal Forum, delegates of the GPA trade union from all over Austria come together. In 2025 it took place from 18 to 20 November at the Austria Center Vienna. We set up the wall the day before, in a room of its own in the congress centre.

For the GPA, the Federal Forum closed a whole year of events: regional forums in the provinces, a federal women's forum and further conferences. The wall was meant to make that year visible.

The idea: a mosaic that grows for a year

A photo mosaic usually comes together in a single evening. This one did not. A photo booth stood at the GPA events in the provinces, and every photo taken there was already meant for the mosaic. Anyone who could not attend an event could upload photos as well.

That brought members and staff from all over Austria into the picture, even if they were not in Vienna in November. The motif fits: "mit uns." in large red letters, with the GPA logo on yellow below. A union made up of many individual faces.

The wall at the Austria Center Vienna

At the Austria Center Vienna the collected photos became the actual wall. Each photo is printed as a tile and stuck into its field by hand. The software works out from a photo's colours where it belongs. Over the days the lettering became clearer, field by field.

Next to the wall stood a black panel saying "Klebe deine Fotos hier" ("stick your photos here"), with the photo booth beside it. The GPA's seating cubes with their logo face were in the room too. So the spot was recognisable as a place to join in, even without explanation.

The last day: guests complete the wall

The photos from the year were not quite enough for every field. The missing tiles came from the photo booth on site on the last day of the Federal Forum. Delegates took their photos, the tiles were printed, and the gaps in the wall closed one by one.

That makes the ending special: anyone who was at the Federal Forum is in the same picture as their colleagues from the regional forums.

Frame and background in the GPA design

For the photo booth the GPA designed its own artwork for the frame and another for the background. We specified format and resolution and loaded the files into the booth. That way the photos looked the same at every event, whichever province they were taken in.

After the Federal Forum: the mosaic as a file

After the event we also built the finished mosaic digitally. We removed duplicate photos so that every face appears only once. The GPA counted the tiles itself: 950 photos. The GPA received the mosaic at maximum resolution so it can later be printed large.

What we take away from the Federal Forum

A mosaic wall does not have to be made in one evening. When an organisation holds many events over a year, each of them can become part of the picture. Three things matter: a motif that fits the organisation, one consistent layout for all photos, and a date on which the wall is completed together.

A mosaic wall for your organisation

Are you planning a conference, a congress or a series of events and want to show a shared picture at the end? Send us your motif and tell us where the photos should be taken. We will simulate in advance what the mosaic will look like and plan with you how the photos come together. The photo mosaic wall is part of our Premium Line; you will find more ideas for corporate events here. We work all over Austria.

FAQ: mosaic walls at congresses and event series

Can photos for the mosaic be collected in advance?

Yes. For the GPA the photos came from events in all provinces over a whole year and from an upload option. The wall was completed on the last day of the Federal Forum.

How do the photos get onto the wall?

Each photo is printed as a tile. The software works out from its colours which field it belongs in, and then it is stuck on by hand.

Can guests upload photos themselves?

Yes. Alongside the photo booth there can be an upload option, so people who could not attend an event still get into the picture.

Can the photo booth print in our own design?

Yes. You can design the frame and background; we specify format and resolution and load the files.

Do we get the mosaic digitally as well?

Yes. You receive the finished mosaic as a high-resolution file, for example for a print later on.
