360° Ground Spinner at the Salzburg Marathon: slow-motion videos at the Salzburger Sparkasse stand in the SportMall

In short: On 15 May 2026 our 360° Ground Spinner stood in the SportMall, the sports expo of the Salzburg Marathon in the Eisarena Salzburg. At the Salzburger Sparkasse stand, runners stepped onto the glowing platform, a camera arm circled them once, and seconds later the slow-motion video was waiting at the sharing station.
The occasion: the SportMall at the Salzburg Marathon
Before anyone runs in Salzburg, everyone collects. The SportMall in the Eisarena is where all participants of the marathon weekend pick up their bib, whichever race they are in. Around 40 exhibitors fill the hall, entry is free, and it was open on Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm and on Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm. The marathon itself started on Sunday, 17 May.
For an exhibitor that is a special situation. The audience does not wander past by chance, it has to walk through the hall. It is in a good mood, a little nervous before the race, and it has time. And hardly anyone comes alone: running groups, colleagues, families accompanying their starters.
The stand: "Lauf Love" in Sparkasse blue
Salzburger Sparkasse gives its name to the half marathon of the weekend and had its own stand in the hall. Blue carpet, a backlit wall with the words "Lauf Love" and two pink running shoes forming a heart, next to it the campaign hashtag #glaubandich and a welcome message.
Our platform stood right in front of that wall. That is no coincidence: with the Ground Spinner the camera moves around the person, so every video shows the whole surroundings once. A branded back wall travels through the picture automatically, without anyone having to edit a logo into the video.
How a recording works
Guests step onto the round, illuminated platform. Our attendant starts the recording, the camera arm with its ring light travels one full circle, and the guests do whatever comes to mind: cheer, hold up their bib, try out a winner's pose in advance. The result is a short slow-motion video in which hair and arms hang in the air for a moment.
The platform holds up to five people, and a recording takes only a few seconds. We manage around 30 videos an hour. At an expo with constant coming and going that is the right pace: nobody waits long, and anyone watching knows after half a minute how it works.
An attendant is always included with the 360° Ground Spinner. Someone has to trigger the recording, brief the guests and make sure the area around the rotating arm stays clear. In a busy exhibition hall that is not a formality.
The sharing station: from the stand to the phone
Nothing is printed with the Ground Spinner; it is a pure video device. Instead, the sharing station stands a few steps away. The finished video is ready there shortly after the recording and goes straight to the phone via QR code or AirDrop.
For a running event that fits exactly. Anyone running a half marathon at the weekend is posting anyway: the photo with the bib, the view of the course, the finish-line picture. A slow-motion video from the day before slots in naturally, and the back wall of the stand is in the frame.
What an exhibition hall dictates
Technically the Ground Spinner asks for little. It needs about two by two metres of floor space, because the rotating camera arm needs room all round, plus a standard power socket and level, stable ground. The platform is at least one metre in diameter, and the step up is about 20 centimetres.
One question we settle for every venue beforehand: the device weighs around 80 kilograms. It needs step-free access or a lift; stairs are not an option.
We bring our own internet. In a hall where a great many people log into the mobile network at the same time, it is better not to rely on whatever happens to be there. No connection, no sharing.
Why video works at a running stand
Many exhibition stands draw people in with a prize draw. That brings addresses, but rarely a picture. A 360 video booth brings movement to the stand, quite literally: the glowing platform and the circling arm can be seen across the hall, and whoever is standing on it becomes a small attraction for everyone walking past.
On top of that, runners are grateful guests. They have a goal in sight, they are proud of their bib, and they come in groups. A video showing the whole running group together on the platform does not get deleted.
What we take away from Salzburg
Three things carried this job. First, the position: right in front of the back wall, so the stand plays a part in every video. Second, the pace: short recordings, short waits, fitting an audience that really only came to collect a bib. And third, sharing on the spot, because a video that arrives by email days later stands no chance on a marathon weekend.
360° video for your exhibition stand
Planning a stand at a trade fair, a sports expo or a city festival and looking for something that makes people stop? Tell us the date, the stand area and how much room stays free around the device. The 360° Ground Spinner is the uncomplicated option. If the hall is high enough and it should be even more spectacular, the 360° Headspinner films from above. How the same spinner performed on a short-notice booking in Vienna is in our story about Sarti Spritz in the Volksgarten. And if guests should leave with something printed in their hand, the Fotobox Classic photo booth is the companion. We work all over Austria.
FAQ: the 360° Ground Spinner at trade fairs and sports events
How much space does the 360° Ground Spinner need at a stand?
About two by two metres, because the camera arm circles the platform once. The sharing station is placed freely beside it and needs hardly any floor space.
How many people fit on the platform?
Up to five at once. For running groups, teams or families that is the usual size.
How do guests get their video?
At the sharing station next to the device. The video is ready there shortly after the recording and can be loaded onto the phone via QR code or AirDrop and shared straight away.
How many videos are possible per hour?
Around 30 recordings an hour. A single recording takes only a few seconds; the rest of the time goes on stepping on and off.
Does the device need the hall's Wi-Fi?
No. We bring our own internet. A venue Wi-Fi is welcome as a backup.
Is an attendant included?
Yes, always. With the 360° Ground Spinner a trained member of staff starts every recording, briefs the guests and watches the area around the rotating arm.
