Booked on Short Notice, Spinning on Time: The 360° Ground Spinner for Sarti Spritz at the Volksgarten
Most of our events are planned weeks in advance: venue visited, layout approved, setup window fixed. This one went differently. The request from Campari – for the Sarti Spritz brand at Vienna's Volksgarten – came on short notice, and yet the 360° Ground Spinner was in place on time, ran all evening and sent guests home with videos that landed in their Stories that very same night.
A request with no lead time
Short-notice requests are normal in the event business. A program item falls through, a budget gets released, someone realizes three days beforehand that the evening could use one more highlight. The honest answer isn't always yes – it depends on whether the device is free, whether someone can staff it and whether the venue can accommodate it.
In this case, everything lined up. Late May, Volksgarten, Sarti Spritz as the brand of the evening: device available, attendant assigned, travel within Vienna. There was little time between confirmation and setup, but that's exactly what this device is built for.
Why the Ground Spinner in particular works on short notice
Not every one of our devices can be booked spontaneously. A branded print layout needs lead time, an AI effect wants to be tested in advance, and the spinner's big brother – the 360° Headspinner – needs four meters of ceiling height and up to two hours of setup.
The 360° Ground Spinner is the simpler option. An illuminated platform, a rotating camera arm, and the sharing station next to it. The device needs about two by two meters of floor space, a standard household outlet and a level, stable floor. No special ceiling height, no three-phase power, no custom construction.
And above all: nothing gets printed. The Ground Spinner is purely a video device. That eliminates the part that usually eats up the most lead time – designing a layout, getting approval, ordering paper and ribbons to match the format. What's left is a device you set up, switch on and let run.
What the venue dictates
A club is not an empty hall. Space is limited, walkways are narrow, and anything in the way disrupts operations. The Ground Spinner is well built for that: the platform is at least one meter in diameter, the total height is about 180 centimeters, and the step up is around 20 centimeters. The rotating camera arm needs room all around it, nothing more.
One point needs to be cleared up with every venue in advance: the device weighs around 80 kilograms. If the space isn't at ground level, we need an elevator – stairs are not an option. That's the one question that has to be asked even on the shortest-notice request before we say yes.
We always bring our own internet. In a packed club, mobile coverage is not a reliable service, and without a connection there's no sharing.
Slow motion is half the story – sharing is the other half
Up to five people step onto the platform together, the camera makes one full circle, and what comes out is the effect you know from award shows: glasses, hair and confetti hang in the air for a moment. A recording takes a few seconds. We manage around 30 videos an hour.
Just as important is the sharing station next to it. The finished video is ready there seconds later and goes straight to the phone via QR code or AirDrop. For a brand activation, that's the decisive step: a video that only sits on our computer does nobody any good. One that gets shared the same evening does.
An attendant isn't optional here
With most of our devices, an on-site attendant is an add-on you can book or not. With the 360° Ground Spinner, it's always included, and for a practical reason: someone has to start the recording, brief the guests and make sure the platform isn't overloaded.
For a short-notice booking, that's an advantage, not a cost item. The client doesn't have to assign someone from their own team to learn an unfamiliar device. We arrive, set up, run it, tear down.
What a short-notice booking really needs
What we take away from this evening is that short notice doesn't have to mean hectic. It takes three things: a device that works without custom production, a venue whose conditions can be clarified in five minutes, and someone who takes over the operation.
When those three things are right, the difference between six weeks and six days of lead time isn't visible in the result. It only shows where customization comes into play – a branded video overlay, a custom start screen, matched colors. For that, we're happy to plan a little more time.
