Joyn at Vienna Comic Con 2025: AI Photo Booth Robot LUNA turns fans into heroes

In short: At Vienna Comic Con 2025 on 22 and 23 November at Messe Wien, our AI Photo Booth Robot LUNA was on duty for Joyn. For two days she rolled through cosplay groups, families and fans, used AI to turn visitors into lifeguards, fantasy royal families or comic heroes, and printed every picture on the spot in Joyn's design.
Vienna Comic Con 2025: ten years of pop culture at Messe Wien
Vienna Comic Con (VIECC) celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025. Across roughly 42,000 square metres in Halls A and B and the Congress Center of Messe Wien, fans of comics, film, TV series and gaming from all over Austria came together. Around 800 exhibitors, more than 450 artists in the Artist Alley and more international actors than ever before made the weekend a must for the scene. The organisers expected more than 40,000 visitors.
Walk across Comic Con and one thing is obvious: the audience itself is the attraction. Elaborate costumes, kids in plush onesies, fans dressed as their favourite characters. For a brand, that is a special stage, because attention only goes to those who bring as much imagination as the guests.
Joyn on site: Austria's superstreamer, hands-on
Joyn was there with a large stand including a black promo van, artificial turf and screens. Having already worked with Joyn at Game City in Vienna City Hall with the AI Magic Mirror Retro, this time the goal was an experience that doesn't wait for guests but drives up to them. The choice: LUNA.
LUNA in the middle of the Comic Con buzz
LUNA is a friendly-looking white robot with a large touchscreen, branded in Joyn's look. Remote-controlled by our team, she rolled from the Joyn stand into the aisles, stopped next to curious groups and invited them to join in with a simple "Choose your favorite world". That movement made the difference: LUNA also reached visitors who would otherwise have walked past the stand.
Kids in particular were unstoppable. While the display showed "Your creation is being processed", they crowded in front of the screen to be the first to see what the AI had made of them. Cosplayers were also happy to stop for a photo with the robot, which made LUNA a popular subject on visitors' phones as well.
Three worlds, one tap
Guests picked their favourite world on the touchscreen, LUNA took the photo and the AI transformed everyone within seconds. The options included:
- Beach look: lifeguards in red outfits in front of sea and sand, rescue buoy included.
- Fantasy royal house: moody portraits with crowns, cloaks and dragons in the background, perfect for families.
- Comic heroes: whole groups as an illustrated hero squad with armour, swords and superpowers.
The result came straight out of LUNA: the built-in printer produced every AI picture instantly, in portrait format with a Joyn frame, logo and the message "130+ channels, 60+ media libraries, stream for free". Every guest took home a piece of brand communication that definitely won't get lost in the tote bag.
Why a robot works at Comic Con
At a fair with 800 stands, every brand competes for a few seconds of attention. A moving robot solves that on three levels:
- It meets visitors where they are. LUNA brings the experience into the aisles instead of hoping for walk-in traffic.
- It fits the audience. Technology, science fiction and transformation are exactly what Comic Con fans came for anyway.
- It leaves something behind. The instant print in Joyn's design extends the contact far beyond the fair, and the AI pictures get shared.
For exhibitors, it is a building block that fits easily into an existing stand. Learn more about photo stations for trade fair stands on our trade fair photo booth page.
Two days, two packed halls
LUNA was on duty on both days of the fair, Saturday and Sunday. The mood stayed high throughout: parents turned into a royal family with their kids, groups of friends became a comic hero squad, and plenty of visitors proudly posed with a rescue buoy. For Joyn, that delivered exactly what an activation at a fan event should: real encounters with the brand, lots of conversations at the stand and pictures that stick.
Planning a trade fair presence or a brand activation and want visitors to come to you rather than walk past? Besides the AI Photo Booth Robot, our AI Line offers many more experiences. We're happy to advise you.
FAQ: the AI Photo Booth Robot at fan conventions
Can LUNA drive through crowded exhibition halls?
Yes. LUNA is remote-controlled at all times by a FiestaPics team member who adapts speed and route to the crowd and keeps an eye on guest safety. She needs level floors and aisles of about 80 cm or wider.
Can the AI worlds and the print layout be branded?
Yes. Start screen, robot branding, AI motifs and print layout are designed to match the campaign; at Comic Con, for example, entirely in Joyn's design.
Does LUNA print the pictures on the spot?
Yes. The printer is built into the robot, so guests hold their AI picture in their hands a few seconds after the transformation.
Is LUNA available without AI effects?
Yes, as the classic Photo Booth Robot without AI transformation, also with instant printing.
