Future forward 2025 at weXelerate: FiestaPics at Vienna's biggest innovation conference
On 27 November 2025, future forward returned for its fourth edition to weXelerate, the Design Tower on Praterstraße and Austria's largest startup hub. Over 900 attendees and 40 startups came together, alongside keynote speakers such as ski legend Benni Raich, profil editor-in-chief Anna Thalhammer, and ÖBB board member Silvia Angelo. The full-day conference featured talks on the Main Stage, several deep-dive tracks on digital transformation, and an innovation expo with numerous startup booths. The fourth edition was backed by partners including KIA, Amazon, UNIQA Sustainable Business Solutions, and the Vienna Business Agency. Right in the middle of it: FiestaPics, with three AI photo experiences for guests.
AI Fotobox: AI portraits in 20 seconds
Set up right at the entrance, our AI Fotobox — a compact column with camera and touchscreen — let guests pick an AI effect, strike a pose, and walk away 20 to 30 seconds later with a printed and digital transformed portrait, sent straight to their phone via QR code. On a day with over 215 matchmaking sessions running, according to the organizers, it was exactly the kind of short break that fits between two meetings — and a conversation starter for anyone who hadn't met yet.
AI Guest Booth: the big screen with no queue
A few steps away, the AI Guest Booth ran without a camera of its own. Guests scanned a QR code, uploaded a selfie straight from their own phone, and seconds later it appeared live on the large, elegantly framed screen in the middle of the corridor. Because nobody had to line up, everyone could join in at once on a packed conference day without missing a single session.
LUNA takes over the dance floor
The real star of the day was LUNA, our AI photo booth robot. Remote-controlled by our team, she rolled through the corridors between the startups' innovation booths, stopped by groups of guests, and turned their photos into face swaps, cartoons or group headshots in seconds — printout included. When the afterparty kicked off in the evening, LUNA stayed right in the middle of it: her display lit up as she rolled onto the dance floor and became part of the party herself, surrounded by guests grabbing one last AI photo of the day.
A day that shows what AI can already do at events
